Located in the picturesque landscape of Pomarance, Tuscany, this architectural project explores the restoration and adaptive reuse of an existing rural complex, transforming it into a contemporary agritourism destination while preserving its traditional identity and architectural character.

The intervention follows a sensitive design approach, maintaining the original building volumes, rooflines, and defining architectural features while introducing carefully considered contemporary elements. The exterior restoration emphasizes the authentic Tuscan material palette, combining natural stone façades, traditional terracotta roofing, and characteristic burgundy shutters. Subtle architectural additions, including contemporary glazing, refined bronze-toned details, and redesigned transitional spaces, establish a balanced dialogue between the existing structures and the new interventions.

Particular attention is given to the relationship between architecture and landscape. Stone-paved courtyards, outdoor terraces, landscaped gardens, and recreational areas are thoughtfully integrated into the complex, creating a natural continuity between the buildings and their surroundings. The design embraces the distinctive Tuscan scenery, incorporating native vegetation and preserving the rural atmosphere of the site.

The interior intervention focuses on adapting the existing spaces to their new hospitality functions, introducing improved spatial organization, contemporary comfort, and a refined material language. Natural textures, warm neutral tones, wood finishes, and carefully selected architectural details create welcoming interiors that complement the character of the restored exteriors. The integration of natural light, visual connections to the landscape, and a restrained contemporary aesthetic enhances the experience of the spaces while respecting the identity of the original architecture.

Through a thoughtful balance of preservation, functional adaptation, and contemporary design, Pomarance Agroturism represents an architectural renewal where traditional Tuscan heritage is reinterpreted to accommodate a new way of experiencing rural hospitality
